Ranger Training for Vancouver Burner Events

Facebook Event Page & RSVP:

Hello, Vancouver Burning Man community!
With the smashing success of our Regional events for 2012, Burn In The Forest and Afterglow, we’ve decided to get the jump on training more Ranger volunteers for 2013. If you’ve ever thought of being involved asa Ranger, you should come out to one of our training workshops this coming year. The first of these will be held on Saturday, February 9th, 2013. (venue TBA)

We will cover conflict resolution, active listening, communication, rangering, and peer support. Wr
angler did a great job of explaining what we do:
“As a Ranger, you will take responsibility to ensure people are having a good time. Just walk around and check out the action. Our gift is to
mediate conflict using non-violent communication. We are an ambassador for the event and a source of information. We are the first responders and need to maintain communications within the event.”

As our events get larger and longer we need to build up our team.
For a three day event, we need at least 24-30 Rangers, for a four
day event, we would need over 40 people. That’s a lot of volunteers, and without your help we just won’t have the numbers needed to make sure everyone is safe and having a good time.

We are combining the peer support volunteers into our Ranger team so if you have these skills and interests we need you too, to join the team!

The summer is a long way off, but we all know that it gets harder and harder for people to make time for training as the date of the event draws near. Even if you aren’t sure of your summer plans yet, come on out and get some training on what it is to be a Ranger. Besides, what else are you going to be doing on a rainy February afternoon? Hope to see you there!

For more information and to sign up, you can reach me at [email protected]

Best wishes,
Ranger Andrew

  • A new way to get more of you creating art projects for Burn in the Forest! YES!
  • A new way for your friends and the community to support you by voting with their dollars? YES!
  • In-person crowd funding with an art auction, a bar, and a sweet party? YES!

Inspired by the successful art fundraiser concept used by the ‘Alchemy’ event, USA’s biggest Burning Man Official Regional event taking place in Georgia, USA, a group of local burners have decided to launch a similar tradition here in BC.

The new program is designed to allow established and novice artists alike, to present their art project to the local Burner community, and that community in turn can vote with their dollars to support the projects they wish to see come to Burn in the Forest in a form of crowd-supported fundraising format.

The fundraiser provides an opportunity for the following:

  • Artists present their ideas to the community
  • Artists and participants have a chance to connect, learn and look for ways to get involved
  • Artists get funds up front by the end of the evening to start building their creation
  • Participate in an Art Auction with lots of cool stuff to buy, with proceeds directed at the artist of your choice
  • Everyone gets to decide where their money is allocated, and each artist’s fundraising status is displayed in real time
  • Hang out, socialize, and party!

Calling all Artists!
Do you have a vision for something awesome to bring to Burn in the Forest but need to raise some funds?  We want to help you raise the minimum it will take to bring that vision to life.  All you have to do is submit a proposal to us and prepare a presentation for the art fundraiser event.
Deadline for applications is March 1st! To see the criteria for the proposal visit
